Looking after your natural stone, indoors and outdoors is easy with the right products. Our preferred supplier is Lithofin and we stock everything you need to keep your surfaces as beautiful as the day they were installed.

Granite

Granite is extremely hard but like any natural stone, it is slightly porous. Therefore, it is important to quickly clean up spills like wine, oil, mustard, citrus or chemicals before they soak into the surface. To clean granite use warm soapy water and wipe surfaces thoroughly. Then rinse with clean warm water using a soft cloth or absorbent kitchen paper to dry the surface.

Limestone, Travertine and Slate

Using a soft brush, remove any dust or debris – this can be done as often as required. If the surface needs more than a sweep then add two tbsp of pH-neutral soap (as per instructions) and one gallon warm water in a bucket. Dip a cleaning mop into the soapy water and twist out excess water and wipe the mop over the natural stone and continue until clean. Rinse the mop with clear water, and wipe over the stone to remove any leftover soap residue. Dry the stone with a clean mop, towel or microfiber cloth.

Marble

Marble is softer and more porous than granite. This makes it more susceptible to scratches, pitting, cracks, stains, and even a dulling of the shine. Dust at least once a week with a soft microfiber cloth. For wet cleaning, use a damp cloth and a pH-neutral cleaner designed for stone. Do not use regular cleaning products that can etch the stone surface over time. Never use abrasive cleaners that will damage and dull the finish. Acidic foods like tomatoes, citrus fruits, and even vinegar will damage marble.

Silestone® / Quartz

For worktops with a polished finish, we recommend you use a mild household cleaner to mop up spills from coffee, wine, lemon juice, olive oil or vinegar. In case of stubborn spills or stains, soak the area for up to 10 minutes and vigorously wipe away with a non-scratch Scotch Brite pad – but avoid using cleaners with a harsh chemical content. Dekton®

Dekton requires very little maintenance. Simply wipe your Dekton surface by using a non-abrasive sponge with soap and warm water on a regular basis to maintain its beauty and shine for years to come. In addition, any pH balanced general-purpose cleaner may be used.

To remove difficult spills, wipe the surface with Pot and Pan Soap and scrub with a Scotch Brite pad and rinse with warm water. For stains that harden as they dry, such as food, gum, nail polish, and paint, remove by gently scraping off of surface (using a blade or putty knife/putty remover), and then clean using warm water and soap. Grey marks leſt by the razor, can be wiped away with soap and water or glass cooktop cleaner.
